The Story Behind Rainy Harbor
The rain had come without warning.
Most of the fishermen had already tied their boats securely before making their way across the slick wooden pier. One by one, they disappeared through the heavy oak door of the little harbor pub, bringing with them laughter, wet boots, and stories from the day's catch.
Inside, the room glowed with warm lantern light. The smell of chowder drifted through the air while rain tapped gently against the old windows.
Someone opened the thick wooden door.
For just a moment, the sounds of the harbor slipped inside—the distant cry of gulls, the soft clink of ropes against weathered boats, and the steady rhythm of rain falling across the quiet water.
Beyond the doorway sat three faithful boats.
The fishermen would soon return to them, but for now the harbor belonged to the rain.
The colorful buildings across the water blurred into soft reflections, as though the weather itself had become an artist, blending every color into the sea.
The door slowly closed.
