The final warmth of the day settles across the mountains in Last Light in Utah, an impressionistic landscape inspired by my original travel photography.
Golden light catches the towering rock formations while the valley below slips quietly into shadow. A winding blue-green river moves through the center of the landscape, bordered by sunlit trees and rugged vegetation, drawing the eye toward distant snow-touched mountains beneath the evening sky.
The contrast between light and shadow gives this scene its distinctive mood. Burnished golds, warm sienna, deep forest greens, charcoal browns, and touches of cool blue capture that fleeting moment when the setting sun illuminates the highest peaks while darkness begins to gather below.
Based on my original Utah photograph and reimagined with an artist-directed impressionistic treatment, the artwork retains the character of the place while adding the texture and atmosphere of a painted landscape.
Last Light in Utah is a beautiful choice for Southwestern interiors, mountain and cabin décor, rustic contemporary homes, offices, living rooms, or for anyone who remembers the extraordinary scale and beauty of the American West.
